Anti-Displacement Fund

Imagine having your home stolen from you.

Imagine having your family’s generational wealth stolen from you.

Imagine being given nothing in return.

Imagine having it happen to your community over and over again.

This is the lived experience of many Black Oregonians, some who were forced to leave the state to find housing elsewhere. It’s time for white real estate professionals to commit to expanding access to Black homeownership. Owning real estate can be one of the greatest ways to create generational wealth. As of 2019, the net worth of homeowners was 40 times that of renters. From 1970 to 2017, the Black homeownership rate in the City of Portland declined 39%. REPAIR's Anti-Displacement Fund is an ongoing effort to help right the wrongs of our city’s pattern of displacing Black homeowners.

We are partnering with Taking Ownership PDX to offer stop gap funding and professional expertise for Taking Ownership’s existing queue of homeowners.

This fund will be dispersed to aid:

  • Individuals and families in danger of displacement.

  • Those whose lives have been impacted by generational displacement.

  • Black-led grassroots efforts working to stop the displacement of Black individuals in Portland.
